CELEBRATING CREATIVITY, COMMUNITY & KIDS
The Global Kids Sewing Party is a month long celebration for kids to sew a softie to gift to someone in their community and began in 2019 when Trixi partnered with the Children’s Museum of the Arts, NYC and it’s Civickids program and founded the first ever Sew a Softie Global Kids Sewing Party.
Kids joining in, learn not only, in many cases, how to sew and create a softie but also that community means supporting and looking out for each other…and they learn that this is something they can do right now.
SIGN UP now to join the party…scroll to the bottom of the page to the sign up form 🙂
GET STARTED
Beginning on the 1st March and continuing for the whole month, kids all around the world will be sewing a softie and gifting it to someone or some group in their community.
Everyone’s welcome…schools, libraries, scout groups, sewing circles, families, anyone at all…and you don’t need to know how to sew…anyone who wants to sew a softie is invited to learn how easy sewing can be.

AN EXTRA FUN CHALLENGE
Are you are joining the GKSP 2022?
OK then, you have a chance to win one of my sewing books (I have three and you can choose which book you’d like to receive) plus a special zenki friend which I will sew and send to you. All you have to do is accept the following challenge.
When you sew your softie for the GKSP:
(1) use a softie pattern from my book The Zenki Way, or
(2) design your own zenki, (The Zenki Way is all about showing everyone how to design their own zenki-style softies) or
(3) use any of the free simple to sew softie patterns on my blog
You’ll need to tag me @sewasoftie and hashtag me #sewasoftie #globalkidssewingparty on instagram or post your pic in the Sew a Softie facebook group to be in the running. The zenkis and I wish you all lots of luck!
WHERE TO DONATE YOUR SOFTIES
UPDATE: Many kids have been asking if they can gift their softies to Ukrainian children. One of Sew a Softie’s kid ambassadors, Yasia lives in the Ukraine and her mum will be giving me addresses to send the softies too, once things quieten down. I’ll update in an email when this happens.
In the past, softies have been donated to all sorts of interesting places including cat shelters, fire stations and Ronald McDonald house. Some kids have gifted their softies to a favourite teacher or friend.
In some schools an students in an older grade have sewn softies for their kindy buddies based on a drawing done by the kindy child.
If you’re looking for a charity to donate your softies to take a look at Arts for Little Hearts which was started by 2 teenage brothers. Arts for Little Hearts can arrange to have your softies delivered to a hospital for you.
Here’s a great article on charities to sew for.
